What is the Come To Me Campaign?

The Come To Me Campaign is a national mental health campaign with the goal of spreading 4 main messages to as many people as possible:

  • You are loved.
  • Your support network is bigger than you may think.
  • It is a sign of courage to ask for help.
  • Life can be better.

The mission is to distribute thousands of orange wristbands with the words "Come To Me" on the outside and the phone number for the National Suicide Hotline on the inside. By large numbers of people wearing the wristbands and showing their support, the hope is that people will begin to talk more openly about mental health, become more aware of the signs of depression or suicide in their friends and family, and encourage people to get the help they need.

TLDR: A campaign to help people live happier lives :)

Why?

Nearly everyone has been or will be affected by mental health at some point in their lives, either directly or indirectly. Yet in most places in America, there still exists a stigma surrounding mental health. It is time to squash the stigma and start talking about it openly and honestly.

Who?

YOU. You have the power to change someone's life through your words and actions. Act. NOW.

...The campaign itself was actually started in 2016 by a small group of college kids from New Jersey after the death of their close friend Joe Walsh.

When?

The goal is to wear these wristbands during the month of September , National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, but also throughout the year! We personally wear these wristbands all year long because showing your support for mental health shouldn't be confined to a day, week, or month.

Give.

The main objective of this campaign is to raise awareness. Another objective, however, is to help fundraise for Minding Your Mind, an organization that provides mental health education to schools across the country through speakers and programs. They have greatly helped with the funds, contacts, and resources necessary to make this campaign a success. Due to such high demand (it's awesome!), costs are much higher than expected. Please, if you're able, consider donating so that we can continue our mission of distributing these wristbands to communities across the country. Your donation is directly helping others. Please donate here!

What Others Are Saying:

Matt Day, Penn State '17

"Knowing we saved lives with this campaign last year gives me hope to keep spreading these positive messages everywhere I go #KeepOnSmiling"

David Pawlan, Vanderbilt University '19

"Too many students struggle with mental health and too few students feel comfortable to do something about it. By letting people know that you truly want to help, we can reduce that stigma and create a healthier culture."

Drew Bergman, mental health speaker

"The Come To Me Campaign goes far beyond the bracelet, it symbolizes a universal understanding that we as a community are here for you in both times of joy and peril and that will never change."
